# Agent tab

# Agent Tab

The **Agent Tab** is the primary configuration area for your voice AI assistant's basic identity and behavior.

## Core Settings

### 1. Agent Name

Internal name for your reference. Use descriptive names like "Inbound Sales Rep - US".

### 2. Language

The primary language the agent will use for speech recognition and generation. Choosing the correct language ensures the highest accuracy for ASR and the most natural prosody for TTS.

### 3. Agent Persona (Role)

This is where you define the overarching persona.

* **Example**: "You are Sarah, a persistent but polite debt collector. Your goal is to negotiate a payment plan."

### 4. Background Knowledge

Instruct the agent on what it should know about your business. You can provide text here or link to more complex data in the [Knowledge Base](../getting-started/knowledge-base.md).

### 5. Task Description

Clear, step-by-step instructions on what the agent should accomplish during the call.

* **Step 1**: Intro and identification.
* **Step 2**: Verify the recipient's identity.
* **Step 3**: State the purpose of the call.
* **Step 4**: Collect required information.
* **Step 5**: Close the call.

## Quick Actions

* **Save**: Persist your changes.
* **Test**: Open the browser console to talk to this specific version of the agent.
* **Publish**: Push changes live for phone-based calls.
